At Cody's Friends Rescue, we've always believed that every dog deserves a second chance, regardless of breed, age, size, or medical history. Since our founding, inspired by our beloved namesake Cody, we have rescued over 11,000 dogs across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and placed them in safe, loving forever homes. None of that would be possible without the generosity of people like you.
Why We Need Your Help Right Now
Every single day, dogs in the Dallas Fort Worth area are surrendered to overcrowded shelters, found wandering the streets, or pulled from situations of abuse and neglect. Our team of dedicated volunteers works tirelessly to give these animals the care and love they deserve but rescue work is never free.
Consider the numbers: Nationwide, 7.9 million companion animals enter shelters every year. Of those, 3.9 million are dogs. And heartbreakingly, 1.2 million dogs are euthanized each year simply because there isn't enough space. We're fighting to change that statistic — one dog at a time.

Right now, we have over 200 dogs in foster care across the DFW Metroplex. Every one of them needs daily food, veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and love until they find their forever home. Here's exactly how your donation goes to work:

Last year alone, 521 dogs were successfully adopted through Cody's Friends Rescue — each one a life transformed, a family completed, a tail wagging with joy. We also took in 644 dogs in 2025, each arrival a reminder of how urgent and ongoing this work truly is.
Our founder, Tina Austin, puts it best: "Fostering for me is the joy of watching a four-legged baby change. We see so many horrifying abuse and neglect cases, so to watch these dogs grow with love, affection and dignity is truly beautiful. I cry when they come in and cry as they leave… but what a difference it is when they exit with their tails wagging and their heads held high! It humbles me."
