OUR MISSION

Cody’s Friends Rescue is a volunteer-powered, all-breed dog rescue serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Driven by passionate dog lovers, our mission is to save, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need, while advocating for responsible pet ownership and building a compassionate community where every dog has the chance to thrive.

OUR VISION

Inspired by the love and resilience of our namesake, Cody, we envision a world where every dog is valued, protected, and given the chance to live a healthy, happy life. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and community education, Cody’s Friends Rescue strives to end the cycle of neglect and create a future where no dog is left behind.

Who Is Cody?

As a young adult, Tina Austin, Founder & President, purchased a 5-week old Shih Tzu puppy and named him Cody. This was Tina’s first pet, and she didn’t know how puppy mill dogs were treated, nor was she aware of their horrific living conditions. Unfortunately, Cody had to fight for his life for the first few months and his body became very weak. But he was well-loved, and Tina had eight wonderful years with him.

Ever since, Tina has been passionate about saving as many dogs as she could through networking with other rescue groups. In honor of Cody, Tina founded Cody’s Friends Rescue, which has continued to thrive through the years.

our Goals

SAVE LIVES

Give homeless, unwanted, neglected, and abused dogs a second chance by helping them find safe, loving, and forever homes where they can truly belong.

SPAY & NEUTER

Raise awareness about the critical importance of spaying and neutering—not only to protect the health of dogs, but also to prevent the cycle of overpopulation and reduce the number of homeless animals in our communities.

EDUCATE

Educate the public and raise community awareness about local shelters and the thousands of incredible, adoptable dogs who lose their lives every year simply because shelters run out of space.”

OUR FOUNDER SAYS...

"Fostering for me is the joy of watching a four-legged baby change. We see so many horrifying abuse and neglect cases, so to watch these dogs grow with love, affection and dignity is truly beautiful. I cry when they come in and cry as they leave… but what a difference it is when they exit with their tails wagging and their heads held high! It humbles me."
